The School of Information Science functions with the Under Graduate Departments of Computer Applications, Computer Science, Information Technology and Post Graduate Department of Master of Computer Science.

Department of BCA
Department of BCA was established in the year 2001, with the vision of inculcation technology biased pedagogy, with the benchmark to meet the industrial demands through the concepts of cloud computing, big data, Web Design, Network, starting from programming in C to Web developing software Programming in PHP, Computer Graphics and DBMS etc. Department has started its functioning with a total student strength of 23 and now the total enrollment has reached 307. Department comprises of eminent faculty members who regularly update their respective domain knowledge for the benefit of student community. The department has so far conducted several seminars from year to year including 6 webinars (1 International and 5 National) even during pandemic period of 2020 .
The Department of BCA have participated in several National Level conference and seminar. Dr.S.Bhuvaneswari has been invited for special talk and also as an External guide at Annamalai University for the doctorate scholars Annamalai University and AVC college of Arts & Science, Mayiladuthurai. Staff members have also published peer reviewed journals; Students of BCA have also participated in workshop conducted in various colleges. The students of BCA have participated in various events and have won in various events. A Separate student forum called “Spark Point Association” which started its achievement since 2009 which carries all co-curricular activities. Every year the Department registers its remarkable achievement by conducting a national level technical meet called “ITRIX”.
Department of COMPUTER SCIENCE
The Department of Computer Science was established in the year 2001. It offers undergraduate (B.Sc Computer Science) program from the year 2001 and it got permanent affiliation in the year 2015 Postgraduate (M.Sc., Computer Science) Program was established in 2002.
At present the department is filled with more than 270 students. The students are admitted to the course as per the revised regulations of the Bharathidasan University 2016-2017. In this year 60 students got admitted in the B.Sc degree and 25 students in the M.Sc Degree.
The Department is strengthened with 5 distinguished faculties (One doctorate holder) and the remaining will be registering for their research in the forth coming years.
The Department of Computer Science has an excellent academic track record and infrastructure for the successful conduct of the bachelor’s program in Computer Science.
The Department with the well-knit faculty demonstrating high professionalism in graduating the students, matching with the performance needed to navigate among the opportunities abounding in today’s world of Internet and E-Revolution.
The Department has faculty members specialized in Programming Languages, Computer Networks, Data Structures, Computer Graphics, Operating System and Mobile Computing and also in the specialized research areas like Digital image processing, Data mining ,Artificial Intelligence,Big Data and Analytics and so on.

The Department of Information Technology was established in the year 2001. It offers undergraduate (B.Sc Information Technology) program from the year 2001 and Postgraduate (M.Sc., Information Technology ) Program was established in 2002.
At present the department is filled with more than 50 students. The students are admitted to the course as per the revised regulations of the Bharathidasan University 2016-2017. In this year 50 students got admitted in the B.Sc degree and 25 students in the M.Sc Degree.
The Department is strengthened with 3 distinguished faculties who will be registering for their research in the forth coming years.
The Department of Information Technology has an excellent academic track record and infrastructure for the successful conduct of the bachelor’s program in Information Technology.

LAB FACILITIES
Introduction
Computer lab is used by our students to practice application of computers in the various fields. Primary goal of the computer lab is to provide assistance to students that will enhance their chances of success.
We also have a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) called Moodle, that teachers use to enhance learning experience by including computers and the Internet in the learning process. Different teachers use the VLE in different ways including storing course information and assignments, online quizzes, interactive tools such as discussions or wikis, displays of student work, and Internet links to outside curriculum resources. You will also be given your own password protected space on the student network to save files etc, which you can access from outside the college, and your own student email address.
All the computers in the Computer Science Laboratory are connected to the Internet. The students can make use of the facility for downloading the necessary details for their study. The centre will be kept open even after the regular class hours and also on Saturdays for the benefit of students.
Laboratory Equipment: –
The equipment and machines in the laboratory are maintained by the lab- admin with the advice of Head of the Department.
Computer software & UPS: –
The computer is maintained in the institution by information technology system support group, this division provide the integrated IT services like smooth running of automation, up-gradation and maintenance of websites, biometric, hardware, networking equipment melding intermit etc.
